Teacher Appreciation Week 2020-2021
In typical years, Teacher Appreciation Week is a flurry of art projects, food, and flowers. The pandemic presented a unique challenge this year, as the PTA wanted to celebrate our superhero teachers and staff but weren't certain how to achieve this given the limitations on gathering and festivities. After learning that the staff couch (a whimsical book-themed piece) was nearing 20 years of age, the idea to renovate the staff lounge was born.
Cornell parent alum Kirsten Piroth worked closely with PTA co-President Natasha Khokhar to design a cozy and cheerful space for staff to enjoy during their breaks. The couch was replaced, and they added additional seating, lighting, and artwork. Cornell parent and PTA Creative Director Kathryn Stine added final touches such as wallpaper and hand-sewn curtains to finish the look. (The best part? The 20-year-old couch also found a new home!). The results can be viewed below!
