How the Cornell PTA Works
The Cornell Elementary PTA is a 501c3 non-profit organization whose mission is to positively impact the lives of children enrolled at Cornell Elementary School. We are noncommercial, nonsectarian, and nonpartisan.
Organizations We Work With
We are part of the National PTA (www.pta.org), and the California PTA (www.capta.org) and the Perlta District PTA (www.peraltadistrictpta.org). Our operations are overseen by these organizations and they provide support and resources for our governance. A portion of each of our membership dues goes up to the district, state, and national level.
In our district we work together with several other important organizations besides Cornell Elementary.

- Albany Elementary Giving Campaign
- SchoolCare
- Albany Music Fund www.albanymusic.org
- Albany Education Foundation www.albanyeducation.org

Governance
The Cornell PTA is governed by a set of bylaws that dictate how the organization is to be run. The bylaws are updated at regular intervals and must be approved by the membership, as well as the California PTA. These bylaws are legally binding documents and violating them would jeopardize the existence of our organization.
Board
Our organization has a Board of elected officers (President, Secretary, Treasurer, VP of Events and VP of Volunteers), which, together with Cornell’s Principal, make up the Executive Board. This Executive Board meets monthly to coordinate and execute the business of the PTA. Almost every activity the PTA sponsors has a volunteer coordinator or committee
